Study on the diversity within the teaching profession with particular focus on migrant and/or minority background
The study on the diversity within the teaching profession with particular focus on migrant and/or minority background seeked to consolidate and develop the existing knowledge base on diversity in the teaching profession across the EU. It gathered evidence to portray an accurate picture of the current diversity of the teaching population, as well as mapped the strategies, policies and initiatives being implemented in the different Member States. In doing so, it analysed and classified the obstacles to greater diversity in the teaching profession, as well as seeking to identify approaches which were most effective (“what works and what does not work”).
For this study, PPMI was asked to complete a short country profile (2-3 pages) setting out the barriers to greater diversity (of the teaching workforce) and any policies which seeked to address this issue in Lithuania. The task involved 3 days’ work.
