Internet, Digital Agenda and economic development of European regions

The study described the links between investments in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and economic development at the regional level, with an emphasis on EU initiatives (in particular the Digital Agenda) and investments supported by the EU (Structural Funds and other funding mechanisms). PPMI contributed to this study by carrying out two regional case studies:

1) e-Health initiative in Estonia: Electronic Health Record and Digital Prescription;

2) e-Inclusion projects in Lithuania: "Libraries for Innovation" and "Development of Computer Literacy Skills".

The overall objective was to provide insights to the Regional Development Committee of the European Parliament on how investment in the internet and the implementation of the Digital Agenda can influence economic development of EU regions.
