PPMI to conduct a study on labour market segmentation

While Europe emerges from the financial and economic crisis, labour market segmentation remains an important challenge. Labour market segmentation describes different groups of people having different working conditions, where the primary segment contains well-paid, stable jobs with opportunities for advancement through internal labour markets and the secondary one contains low-paid, precarious jobs with poor working conditions and little chance of career advancement.

PPMI has been awarded a contract ’Assessment of public interventions to combat labour market segmentation in the EU Member States’ by Eurofound to identify the most effective approaches of labour market interventions to address segmentation. The study will explore the effectiveness and efficiency of ten labour market interventions in France, Germany, Spain and the UK to provide insights on the main demand- and supply-related drivers, barriers and contextual factors that affect the success and transferability of the interventions tackling the labour market segmentation.
