The Commission's Directorate-General for Research and Innovation recently published the European Research Area (ERA) Progress Report 2018, prepared by PPMI and Science-Metrix.
Our analysis shows that the process of convergence among national research systems seems to be slowing down. Large disparities between the EU countries persist. The Commission and the Member States may need to take further action to regain momentum of ERA. Could the revision of ERA priorities help?
On the other hand, the ERA National Action Plans published by the EU countries have definitely helped to achieve further progress. It is a positive sign that in their plans the Member States have built on guidance proposed by the ERA Communication & Roadmap, but also enriched it with their own innovative and ambitious solutions.
