In 2015 PPMI started coordinating the Network of experts on the social dimension of education of training (NESET II). The social dimension of education refers to the potential of education and training systems to reduce poverty and enhance social inclusion. The NESET II network works to provide rigorous and independent scientific support (including country-specific expertise) and advice from the research community to the European Commission. The Network acts as a knowledge broker, bridging the gap between EU policy coordination and the academic world. It consists of more than 50 highly qualified researchers and education policy specialists representing EU-28 and other European countries.
The main outputs produced by the Network are analytical reports, professional development seminars for the staff of the Commission, as well as responses to Commission’s ad-hoc questions. Moreover, PPMI has set up a multilingual website to serve as the main channel for dissemination of the Network’s activities. Published in three languages (English, French, and German), the website presents thematic content on the key issues covered by the Network. The Network also compiled a database of researchers working on social aspects of education and training, which is updated continuously.
