PPMI has recently been awarded a project to design and carry out a nation-wide study on children with low learning levels in Uzbekistan. Within this study, we will develop a nation-wide assessment for 4th grade children in Uzbekistan. The assessment will cover the main learning domains (reading, mathematics and science, but also including transversal skills) and will also include background questionnaire for pupils and schools. The study will identify which personal background factors (family, social, geographical) and school-related factors influence the learning levels of children. The assessment results, as well as review of wider literature, will feed into the development of recommendations to the Ministry of Public Education in Uzbekistan for future policy actions and national assessments.
PPMI will cooperate with experts from the National Examination Centre of Lithuania and the project will last for one year (to be finished by the end of 2018).
